Equal amounts of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are combined in Pro-Biotic Complex™ for individuals who may require high amounts of these important microorganisms.

L. acidophilus is a well-researched, hardy probiotic highly resistant to gastric acid, bile salts, and digestive enzymes. Possessing more than 20 peptidases, it readily breaks down casein, casein-derived polypeptides, and gluten. It hydrolyses bile salts and supports healthy cholesterol metabolism. L. acidophilus ferments lactose and a variety of other sugars and polysaccharides aiding digestion and lowering the pH of intestinal contents.*

B. bifidum is normally present in large numbers. Its populations are reduced or absent in some infants and elderly adults. Together L. acidophilus and B. bifidum help balance beneficial and nonbeneficial bateria and yeast.* This formulation is available in both a powder containing 10 billion CFUs per 1/4 teaspoon and a maintenance- dose vegetarian capsule supplying 5 billion CFUs.
